On September 17, 2024, pagers exploded in big numbers in Lebanon, aimed at Hezbollah, and killing and wounding dozens of people. During the research, it turned out that the pagers were bought by a company in Bulgaria, owned by a Norwegian citizen. Come and hear how the Norwegian newspaper VG's news department collaborated with journalists across borders in the search for answers. Who was the Norwegian citizen, originally from India, but with a company in Bulgaria? In this session, participants will learn how to search databases and get tips on other creative methods – including getting help from colleagues – to get answers abroad. Some of the methods used are research in international company registers, AI verification of faces, flight databases, social engineering and feet on the ground.
