When dealing with large amounts of data you may want to try something more elaborate than your typical bar, line or pie chart. But how well does your audience understand bubble charts, small multiples or heatmaps?  What should you consider when choosing a chart type? What can you do to help get the most out of them?

This interactive session blends insights from professional experience and academia. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of what audiences (including you) see in data visualizations, and what you might need to do to make your message clearer.
