About me
Joseph Smith is the engineering lead of the Guardian's Generative AI team, which is exploring how this new technology might be safely used for journalism.
Before that, he spent four years working on investigative and data journalism projects at the Guardian and building software to make them easier. These projects include the Pandora Papers, the "UK For Sale" series on offshore-owned property, investigations into PPE procurement during the pandemic, and analysis of online election advertising.
